2017-Present Bates College, Associate Professor of Theater-Acting/Directing (awarded tenure February 2023)
THEA 350 Advanced Directing-Anne Bogart, Katie Mitchell
- Students deepen their craft of directing by experimenting with a variety of storytelling techniques for the stage.
- Class work focuses on the study and practice of the directing process, in which students expand their ability to develop an approach to a dramatic text, work with designers and actors, and explore generative theater making.
- Throughout the course there is a sustained focus on the collaborative process and examination of contemporary directors and their work.
- Students direct a ten-minute play to conclude the semester
THEA 373 Performing Heightened Text/Acting Styles–Barry Edelstein, Patsy Rodenburg,
- Deepened the students’ craft of acting by exploring the challenges of heightened language and period style while maintaining commitment to objectives, the specific details of the “world of the play,” and truthful listening and reacting.
- Facilitated end of module public performance on Zoom.
THEA 362 Advanced Acting– Michael Chekhov Technique, Stanislavski, Lloyd Richards
- Provided opportunities for students to discover and apply the full integration of their bodies, voices, and imaginations as they physicalize actions in rehearsal and performance.
- Facilitated psycho-physical exercises of Michael Chekhov in combination with explorations into Stanislavski’s work.
- Facilitated end of semester public performance in Gannett Theatre.

- Facilitated a more rigorous studio experience and provided opportunities for students to respond to the creative process of theater both on campus and professionally in Philadelphia.
Art of Acting
- Designed exercises that effectively addressed the GenEd’s goals of critical thinking, communication and information literacy for Art of Acting (an introductory Acting course for non-majors).
- Fostered opportunities for students to make connections to their respective majors and possible future career goals.
- Student evaluations placed me as a top instructor for this course.
Fundamentals of Acting
- Provided a more in-depth exploration about the craft of acting in this follow up course to Art of Acting.
- Formulated exercises to strengthen connection, relaxation, objectives, emotional openness and moment-to-moment availability.
- Introduced them to Karen Kohlhaas’ (of Atlantic Theater Company) monologue and audition technique and Michael Chekhov explorations.
2016-2017 University of the Arts, Senior Lecturer –Acting Studio-Michael Chekhov/Stanislavski (Sophomore Track)
- Offered conservatory training to cultivate a rehearsal and performance process that will prepare students for the profession of theatre.
- Facilitated psycho-physical exercises of Michael Chekhov in combination with explorations into Stanislavski’s work.
- Collaborated with Voice, Movement and other Acting Studio colleagues in preparing and conducting Mid-Term Evaluations for students.
- Created syllabus to align with the student learning outcomes of UArts Acting Training Program.

Introduction to Theatre
- Encouraged critical analysis and inquiry to deepen understanding and awareness of theater history.

2010-2012 Union College, Adjunct Professor
Acting II
- Focused on the business of acting and what it means to be professional.
- Created a program based on the 52nd Project in NYC pairing Union College students with students of Schenectady High School to write and perform original plays.
Acting I
- Developed this course to cover the process of exploring oneself as the source of performance impulse.
- Introduced techniques focused on textual analysis for role preparation, monologue and scene work.

- Directed Dancing at Lughnasa for their Mainstage Season.
GOVERNANCE & ENGAGEMENT
- Bates College: Co-PI Sherman Fairchild-IMPACT 21st & Chair of Bates Arts Collaborative Committee
- Co-Project Manager (PI) of Sherman Fairchild Arts and Technology grant. Fall 2019-Current.
- Co-Advised Winter Arts Festival-Winter 2020-24.
- Advocated for the arts in college planning and collaborate on programming that will give the arts a voice in the leadership of the college.
- Promoted the arts to be infused throughout the campus.
- Planned and facilitated bi-weekly meetings comprised of other arts faculty, staff and students.
- Directed The Thanksgiving Play by Larissa FastHorse and facilitated cultural competency opportunities (Six hour workshop w/Wabanaki REACH) in Gannett Theater-Fall 2023.

- Bates College-Created and Coordinated We Are Proud to Present Talk Back Series
- As part of the show experience and to engage with our community in a more impactful way, there was a talk-back after every performance with the goal of allowing the audience, especially our students, an opportunity to process, ask questions and collectively exhale in a safe space.
- The following faculty members participated: Charlene Holmes, Kirk Read, Leslie Hill, Elizabeth Eames, Alex Dauge-Roth and Su Langdon.
- Bates College- Created and Coordinated “The Great Work Begins: The Bates Series on Angels in America” involving thirteen departments or offices on campus.
- Curated three different panels including members of Religious Studies Department, Department of Rhetoric, Department of Theatre and Dance, Multi-Faith Chaplaincy Office, Bates’ students and community members for three episodes of HBO’s Angels in America.
- Curated a panel discussion on HIV/AIDS and Activism with Gender and Studies colleague as well as professor from Bowdoin College.
- Participated in Out2Lunch Series sponsored by SPARQ!
- Collaborated with Office of Residence Life and Health Education promoting awareness during each performance and “Sex Week.”
- Coordinated off campus program with Outright Lewiston-Auburn bringing Bates students to drop-in program for LGBTQIA+ teenagers to preview Angels in America and discuss themes of the play. 2017-2018
- Project Leader for NEA Artworks Grant partnering Bates College and InterAct Theatre to develop new plays and create a pilot program between producing theatres and college theatre programs.

2012-2020 Director of Education-Saratoga Shakespeare Company www.saratogashakespeare.com
- Coordinated and designed the class schedule for the Young Theatre Professional Company (comprised of 17-20 college students).
- Directed the 2016 SSC Intern Company in Much Ado About Nothing.
- Created in 2016 a community initiative entitled “Shakespeare For All Tour” which brought Shakespeare’s Much Ado About Nothing and interactive workshops to various locations in Saratoga Springs such as a senior residential facility, and a low-income housing community.
- Planned theatre workshops for community theater groups.
- Auditioned and interviewed prospective intern candidates annually.
- Led master classes/workshops in Fitzmaurice Voicework, Laban Movement, Audition Technique, “Acting as a Business,” and Scene Study.
- Directed Green Show/Pre-Show performances with apprentice company.
2013-2019 Philadelphia Young Playwrights- Teaching Artist
- Interacted with young playwrights in grades 3-12 to assist in enhancing students’ writing, thinking and interactive skills.
- Enhanced students’ sense of agency, responsibility and self-esteem.
1998-2012 John Sayles School of Fine Arts- (Theatre Arts Teacher)
- Developed and implemented Theatre Arts Curriculum for grades 9-12 in city public high school.
- Trained and was certified as an International Baccalaureate (IB) Theatre Arts teacher.
- Co-developed and was co-artistic director for school’s resident theatre company-The Blue Roses Theatre Company.
- Designed and coordinated a mentoring program that partnered Advanced Acting students with 3rd graders in the district. Students were given opportunities to engage in individual and group-related theatrical and theatre- related tasks to promote literacy and collaboration skills.
- Directed over 25 JSSFA/BRTC productions such as A Raisin in the Sun, The Crucible, Crimes of the Heart, School for Scandal, Taming of the Shrew, Crumbs From the Table of Joy, Flyin’ West, You Can’t Take It With You and an annual Original Ten-Minute Play Festival (nine years).
- Co-created and directed a summer film festival involving over sixty students and members of the community.
